The AI Equity Data Challenge

Phase 1 – Analyze the Data 

Dates: Sept 2-Oct 5 

Use Labour Market Information (LMI) and other available data sources to explore and present:  

• How AI is expected to reshape the job market, by industry and region  
• Demographic impacts of AI adoption (e.g., how race, gender, income level, and geography influence access to emerging opportunities)  
• Current trends in workforce diversity, wage equity, and skill gaps  
• Which groups are most likely to benefit from AI, and which face barriers to participation in the evolving economy  
  

 

Your deliverable: A data-driven visual summary that highlights disparities, patterns, and projections related to AI, diversity, and economic resilience. Present your findings as a graphic or series of graphics (5 pages maximum, saved in PDF format). Your submission should tell a visual story of the data you have analyzed and share your sources clearly. All submissions must be in English and uploaded to the platform by 11:59 PM (ET) on October 5, 2025.  

Scoring: A panel of judges will score your submission based on the evaluation criteria between Oct 6-8. Teams will receive their scores on the evening of Oct 8. All teams will advance to Phase 2. 

 

Phase 2 – Propose a Solution 

Dates: Oct 6-Nov 2 

Based on your findings, develop a data-informed idea, strategy, or tool that addresses one or more of the disparities you've uncovered. Your solution should aim to:  

• Improve access to AI-related opportunities for underrepresented groups  
• Support equitable career growth and wage advancement  
• Strengthen economic resilience across all demographics  

During this phase, your team has the option to sign up to meet with a mentor to support you in developing your idea. Mentors are experts in their field who will help you explore all angles of your solution to submit a well-rounded and realistic solution. 

Your deliverable: A prototype, policy proposal, public awareness strategy, or other creative concept to address the above points. Your submission should be grounded in your data analysis from Phase 1. Submit your solution in a PDF document no longer than 5 pages in length. All submissions must be in English and uploaded to the platform by 11:59 PM (ET) on November 2, 2025.

Scoring: Between Nov 3-5, a panel of judges will score your submission based on the evaluation criteria. Scores from Phases 1 and 2 will be combined to determine the top 5 scoring teams. The top 5 teams will advance to Phase 3. 

 

Phase 3 – The Final Pitch  

Date: November 18 

Between Nov 5-18, the top 5 teams will refine their solution and prepare a presentation. The finalist teams will pitch their solutions to the jury at a virtual event on November 18.  

Your deliverable: A live presentation about your solution (maximum 5 minutes), including how the solution relates to your data analysis from Phase 1. Judges may ask questions at the end of your presentation. 

Scoring: A panel of judges will score presentations based on the evaluation criteria. The top 3 teams will be determined through these scores and will be announced at the end of the event.
